Mike Meyer to Speak at Marketing Expo

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

Our team at NetSearch Direct likes to take every opportunity to connect with our community and branch out for more far reaching networking prospects. For this reason among others we have been participating in the Retail Marketing Expo for 3 years. But at this year’s event, taking place next month, one of our leaders will be more than simply participating. We are beyond excited that Mike Meyer, our President and CEO will be hosting a morning Power Session at the event.

Mike started his career in advertising back in 1982 and now has managed to build NetSearch Direct out of his knowledge of marketing successes stemming from experience with ValPak and Reach Magazine. Most notably, Mike has been able to grow NetSearch Direct even during the worst economy in 30 years, by having employees nearly double in numbers. With all of this success and history under his belt, he is more than ecstatic to discuss all things SEO with this year’s RMA Expo attendees. Attendees should be sure to take notes, because insight into the alluring world of online marketing is not always free!

One of the highlights of the Power Session with Mike is that he will be touching on the key topics of his book, SEO 3.0: The New Rules of Search Engine Optimization. Within this focus he will touch on how to deal with the changes that the internet age brings to many businesses. In addition, for those business owners or operators that don’t quite consider themselves tech savvy, this book in conjunction with the Power Session helps to break down what may seem like daunting tech talk into plain English.

With the RMA Expo attracting over 1,000 attendees each year, our team is excited to hear Mike speak to the masses as well as to discover new opportunities between other businesses. As an online marketing company we appreciate meeting other retail merchants – whether it be to make friends, to make profit, or to learn. Last year’s RMA Expo was a blast and we are looking forward to contributing to this years! Office & Website Redesign Project

Monday, June 13th, 2011

NetSearch Direct is currently redesigning our interior office space, as well as our website and blog. When we are finished the website and blog will look drastically different with a different color scheme, layout and content. Our office will also look somewhat different. We have cleared out clutter, opened up some cubes and made more usable space, created a sitting area in the front of the office and we plan on painting our new colors on the walls, adding artwork, adding stand up desks for associates who would like them and potentially creating another office space for a salesperson.

We are very excited to be redesigning both our physical space and our space online as many of you know us. We wish to project the image of a modern and knowledgeable internet marketing agency that stays up to date on all the current trends and tactics in online and digital marketing. Check back often and soon you will find a whole new website that will be much better organized with a much better design and feel. Once our website redesign is completed please feel free to share your thoughts with us.

Don’t Delay! Now is the Time to Start Your Web Startup.

Eden Asset LibraryBack in the summer of 2001 when I was in my final year of university, I had a part-time job at an internet cafe. It was in a dingy old pub with prehistoric computers and a barely-better-than-dialup connection shared amongst fifteen computers. Because it was such a crappy internet cafe no-one ever really went there. So I found myself with plenty of time to learn Photoshop, HTML and to dabble in PHP.

At that time the Dotcom Bubble had recently burst and though there were some ragged survivors like Amazon, the majority of the high flying, aeron buying, dotcom elite had come and gone. I used to sit in my internet cafe waiting for the nonexistent customers and think, “If only I had gotten into this web stuff five years ago, then I could have been part of all that excitement!” Read More

Motivating Yourself – Heroes, Role Models & Rivals

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Eden Asset LibraryBeing a netsetting entrepreneur is very much about motivating oneself. Unlike traditional employment there is no boss-figure watching over you, making sure you’ve done your job and giving you new tasks to do. That’s an extremely liberating feeling, but it also presents its own challenges. How do you stay on track? How do you keep yourself moving when you’re feeling lazy? And when things are going well, how do you push yourself to grow, to take risks and to be better?

Motivation is a rather complex subject so in this post I’m going to talk about just one motivation tool that I use, namely other people. Heroes, role models and rivals are three types of people that keep me focused. Read More

Sometimes It’s Better Not To Know

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

When you have a long journey ahead, sometimes it’s best not to think too much about it. You’re much better off just getting started.

For some weeks now I’ve been working on a large upgrade to our popular freelancing site FreelanceSwitch. The upgrade includes a complete overhaul of the design, some large changes to the functionality of the site and coordinating a few different sub-projects. It’s been taking a lot of time and energy and as I write this, we’re only half way there.

This morning I was reflecting that if I’d known quite how much work was involved in the upgrade, I think I might have been a little less ambitious. And in many ways that makes me glad that I didn’t know.

A bit young, a bit naive

Three years ago when starting Envato I wrote out a business plan for our fledgling enterprise. It wasn’t a particularly solid plan, at least it didn’t have any hard numbers, or organisational charts, or many of the other things I’ve since learnt are meant to be in business plans. But it did contain our strategy for how the business would grow, and to put it mildly, it was an ambitious plan. Read More
