Google news is now capable of dropping blogs and press releases from their news results. New settings on Google news all you to see fewer results from blog and press release sources. This could potentially cause some blogs to consider asking Google to reclassify them as news sources. Now you can customize your news results on the news settings page by choosing between options of viewing blogs and press releases, you can either choose “none”, “fewer”, “normal” or “more”.
According to an article on Search Engine Land the settings appear to only control the headlines that are displayed on your Google News personalized home page. This is another way Google is allowing for customization and personalization of the news users view. Another new and really neat feature of Google News is the ability to have the Google News homepage auto-reload and refresh every fifteen minutes. Now you can get updated news in real time on Google’s news feed.
