Black Hat SEO

It is that time of the year for black cats, black cauldrons, black spiders, and black hats. But the black hat that I want to talk about is Black Hat SEO. What exactly does that term mean?

Black hat search engine optimization is known as the unethical techniques used to get higher search rankings within an accelerated time period. While these practices can provide short-term gains in your rankings, if you are discovered using black hat SEO techniques you run the risk of being penalized.

Make sure you avoid the following Black Hat SEO techniques:

Keyword stuffing: Creating long lists of keywords on your site without relevant content will get you penalized by search engines. Learn how to place keywords and phrases the correct way in your content.

Invisible text: Putting lists of keywords in white text on a white background in hopes of attracting more search engine spiders is not an ethical way to raise your search rankings.

Doorway Pages: A doorway page is a “fake” page that users don’t see. It is designed to trick search engine spiders.

Don’t be tempted by black hat tricks. Initially these practices result in higher search rankings, but you will eventually get your site banned for using unethical practices. It is not worth the risk.

Don’t be spooked by the process of search engine optimization. There are plenty of legitimate and effective ways to get your site ranked higher while avoiding anything that even looks like Black Hat SEO.
